Digital Love

Alphabeat, FrankMusic, Leon Jean-Marie

These boys and girls in the image above are the collaboration between blogfaves Danish Alphabeat, British FrankMusik and Leon Jean-Marie.

Alphabeat might be known from their introducing track Fascination Frankmusic they shared with us two months ago. But tonight they shipped over a colorful handmade cover for Daft Punk’s Digital Love, that is coming in a quite unexpected way, in a very unexpected genre, but nevertheless we still love people playing real instruments and charming guys standing on front on microphones, singing with body and soul. The track is a gentle voyage to something relaxing escorting you smiling through stormy days.

zShare: Alphabeat, FrankMusic & Leon Jean-Marie - Digital Love (Daft Punk Cover)

These danish boys and girls are also going to publish their video for their next single “10.000 Nights” tomorrow. After the jump below you can already fetch some screens of it…

The Sick Kids, consisting of blogknown Goldie Locks, Lele[SPEAKS] and JacksonKiD brightens up the night with their first music clip to “Camel Toe To Go”.

That track is a banging grimey ghettoblaster, the video a low-budget british aerobic impression. You dig this or prefer ultrablogged oddity Gameboy/Gamegirl? We compare these 2 clips, cause white people rapping and jumping in front of a cam. With this post we got our favor…

Back To The Days #2: Falco

Falco

Back from the place, where all that street stuff started, all that hard kids today got their roots on being cool, being a wanna-gee, possessing at least one oldschool adidas training jacket or a Superstar, we got something almost every German Kid of the 80s had to deal with because his/her parents never stopped spinning this man on their gramophone.

We talk about the Austrian Ultra Hustler, one of the most excentric broken persons in Middle Europe: Falco aka Johann Hölzel, who ran his most gleaming business and his international breakthrough in the middle 1980s with his 3rd album “Falco 3″, lifting the singles “Rock me Amadeus”, “Vienna Calling” and “Jeanny” (which was highly discussed in Germany because of glorification of a violent act). Nevertheless or because of that Falco became very successful, hang around for weeks on the 1st place in German Charts and sold “Jeanny” about 2.500.000times.

His success continued by publishing his 4th record “Emotional” and Falco started a world tour, that he cancelled on his own, because of homesickness and the fear of the accountabilities of (maybe) becoming known and famous around the globe. Quoting Falco: „I often had the chance playing in America. I haven’t done, because the most beautiful of the American Flag are the redwhitered stripes.” (allusion to the reason becoming no star in USA)

We call Faco “The feeling of being born in the wrong century”, cause that’s what perfectly fits, checking this Austrian rococonian personalization of lascivious appearance, decadent living and keeping countenance.

Lucy Love

Lucy Love shoved over her new fresh spanking video clip for “No V.I.P.”, a stop motion extravaganza, created by Sif Westerberg. Lucy is a rising young Copenhagen based MC, you might remember her as Alchemist, when she entered a grimetime competition a few yrs back. Watch her, load her and lean back to “No V.I.P.”, best listen to it, while you get a “Thugs Life”-tattoo on your belly.

We just got a low quality 96kBit version of her track. If you dig her, grab Lucy’s loony tunes on iTunes or on Juno for around a pound.

Back To The Days #1: Street Dance
Home, Music, Street, Video, Electro, 80s, Hip Hop 7th Apr 2008 // 12:01 am

During a walk across a car boot sale one week ago, Gucci Boy detected a record he was immediately head over heels in love with - Street Dance by Break Machine. Outcoming of this trove, the TFL crew decided to come up with a petite 80’s retrospection week full of tidbits we want you remind to. Aaaight!

Because it sets the ball rolling and of course because we like to be as nonchalant as the three boys in this clip of 1984, Break Machine a.k.a. Bon Rock a.k.a. Keith Rodgers comes right from the start. Street Dance was one of the first breakdance tracks ever in the international charts and it’s catchy whistling sound incites you to take part in. We, for one, do nothing else all day long.

Furthermore we like to prepare you for this year’s Battle of the Year and come up with some breakdance lessons. Work out hard and you will beat every breakdance crew in single mode! But - KEEP IT REAL!

Johnny Neon
image: Ross Garret

I admit: I never thought about South Africa when thinking about music and was never curious enough to check up on my own, what they’re doing down there. Great, that a boy named Ben Rausch shoved over a mail to share his Synthpop tunes with us.

His band Johnny Neon - playing analogue synthesizers - are blessed with extremely comfortable voices sharing with the audience and crash into your ears with beautiful tunes, appeasing the hardest hustlers and strongest weightlifters. These tracks are a gem for daybreaks to get up with a smile and gleaming sunbeams around your head.

Btw: Did somebodys grandpa sold all his holding, did transfer all his stocks and took a no-return-ticket from Germany to South Africa, just because of the overwhelming biota? Is it true that many players dream of emigrating to South Africa, living on the southest edge of the world, the Cape Agulhas? Do they play instruments the other way round down there in South Africa? Did I say South Africa too often?!

You missed a music-video, that beats your brain back into your childhood to remind you of all the superstars and heartthrobs you had?
You get excited of gazing at a low-polygon 3d female swinging their hips more Colombian-Style than Shakira does?!
You fell in love yesterday with Snoopy at the age of 9?
You want to see cartoon characters krumping?
You want to see a Frosties-Tiger-knockoff pop-locking?

It’s the most expensive production I was blessed to see in the last week of March 08. But where the hell is Hashizo? And is there anyone out there donating the creators a magnetic-lariat-tool-update for Adobe Premiere? This is so tough like my stomach after its perforation.

The mail to the clip dropped into our inbox from unknown sender with the words: Hot on the heels of
H ‘two’ O Ft. Platnum this is going to be the sound that is ‘hard2beat’ this summer.
And we got nothing to say against this statement!

Btw: You want us to write more bilingual?
Btw2: Where have all our hypem-fans gone? We’re very worried about you! Are you alive and healthy?
Btw3: Rumors have it that Kavinsky casted half of the actors in the clip for a brandnew supersoft’n sexual Michel Vaillant Remix of the Autodrive.

Reformat The Planet

Gameboiy

Like you might know I’m totally into this “Nintendo GameBoy NES 8-Bit” thing. It’s one of this parts of my childhood I love to look back on and identify with. So it’s not really astonishing that I always prick my ears if anywhere the typical beep-beep-beep resounds.

The guys of 2 Player Productions now have finished a feature length documentary, which dives into the movement known as chiptunes - a vibrant underground scene based around creating new and original music by using old video game hardware. Familiar devices such as the Nintendo Game Boy and Nintendo Entertainment System are pushed in new directions with startling results.
The movie they’ve made, called “BLIP FESTIVAL: REFORMAT THE PLANET”, is an homage to the annual Blip Festival in New York City and its genesis as well as to the artists behind and of course to low-bit video game consoles.

This trailer gives a short impression about, what the audience at the South by Sothwest Film Festival in March will have to expect when the full documentary will receive its premiere. 2 Player Productions have announced a combination of film and performance which will mark the strongest push into popular media exposure, chip culture has ever experienced. I’m curious about and wish I could be present there, too.

The SXSW screening will be supplemented by a showcase performance of chip-musicians from all around the world. Some of ‘em you can find below and take with you if you like.

Spitzer

Youngest Spitzersky

Kidz by Colette and Different is Dangerous got it first, let Damien and Matthieu show their dub of Kylie Minogue’s “In my Arms”, that is going to be released in Feb 08 with this remix. Thank heaven they erased that pure boring poppy feeling of Kylie and blend in some heavy squeaking breaks, that are so lucky to live and especially lucky to be done by Spitzer, themselves.

The track is an ear-catcher, hunting your attention with a tune first, that seem to know you, a groaning bass, admixed with Kylies vocals, appearing way housy, but getting saved by a spitzery sound, checking in your head-hotel for the best suite to find.

Revolt Of The Mouses
Home, Design, Video 16th Dec 2007 // 02:00 pm

Revolt Of The Mouses

I just do hate these players of kewego and furthermore it’s a french interview. But it’s quite nice to have a look at, even you do not understand any word. I found this vid about Bertrand de Langeron, better known as So Me, the graphic delivery service of EdBanger, first surprising the world with the price of Best Music Video 2006 for Justices & Simians “Never be alone”.

After some more videos, millions of tons of graphics and other artworks he did for covers, shirts, flyers, webstuff he’s now opening his first exhibition called “Blinded by the light” in Paris’ Lazy Dog presenting drawings on light boxes appearing like in a Peep Show. I found the video above via Kidz by Colette, might be interesting for you frenchspeaking readers. If i do read right it’s done by Audrey Martinet. Get some images of the exhib here. I am curious how he’s going further further.
