TFL is proud to present you a young and pretty artist from Germany. Nadine Platzek aka Ninino aka Tape 3000 is a 23yrs old girl, who can’t get enough from love, life and music. She is a painter, photographer, musician, and a wonderful gleam of hope on a grey afternoon. We love her style and her lovely way to create a new story, in pictures as well as in music. Currently she’s working on her 2nd album and the musical collaboration SFC 3000 with her fiancee.

We would advise you now, to take a little time - like Avid Liongoren, an exceptionally gifted Filipino artist, was doing while creating his Project 365. For this purpose he has drawn, the whole past year round, every day one of his little monster into a real photo. Amazing is, how the creatures blend in - they somehow raise the feeling of beauty for the remaining areas of the photos. And - never fear! The monsters are not that creepy - but convince yourself!

Zum 50. Mal in Folge wurden in Amsterdam die besten Pressebilder des Jahres mit dem weltweit renommierten World Press Photo Award ausgezeichnet. Dabei musste sich die hochkarätige Jury im Vorfeld durch über 78.000 Einsendungen von 4460 professionellen Fotografen aus 124 Ländern arbeiten. Der Preis für das beste Pressefoto ging an den amerikanischen Fotografen Spencer Platt der mit seiner Aufnahme einer bizarren Alltagssituation in Beirut zur Zeit der israelischen Angriffe die Komplexität und Gegensätzlichkeit des wirklichen Lebens zeigt, so die Jury.
Die gesamte Ausstellung ist nun auch in Deutschland zu sehen. Den Anfang macht die Goethe Gallerie Jena wo vom 06. bis 26. Januar 2008 alle 200 Siegerarbeiten bestaunt werden können. Als weitere Stationen der Wanderausstellung folgen Leipzig und Potsdam.

Was muss einem eigentlich im Kopf rumzwirbeln, um einer arbeitslosen Taxifahrerfliege mit dem Arsch voll Schulden und mindestens nochmal sovielen Kindern einen Modelvertrag anzubieten?
Gut der Kerl, Gerald übrigens sein Name, ist offenbar talentiert - kann Gitarre und Klavier spielen wie kaum ein zweiter, aber den glossy Modelblick hat er nun wirklich nicht drauf. Ganz egal - Nicholas Hendrickx ist von Geralds Fähigkeiten überzeugt und hat ihm auch gleich eine Flickr-Setcard zusammengestellt, bei der jede Stubenfliege sofort ins Schmachten gerät. Hollywood hat denn dann auch schon angefragt, der neue James Bond wäre zu besetzen…

Schon schön, was ich heut morgen via rollsroick fand. Ein wenig Gänsehaut, ein wenig Heimweh, ein wenig Neid, wegen den Azzuro’s! An und für sich kann ich mit Fussball recht wenig anfangen, jedoch zieht mich die Horda-, Harakiri- und Wen es nich noch alles gibt - Fangemeinde schon länger wie magisch in den Bann.

Und weil ich wegen SebastiAn so aufgeregt auf Freitag bin, schick ich euch zwei kleine Häppchen zum Vorkosten von »Ross Ross Ross«.

Seitdem ich ihn kenne wirkt er auf mich sehr mysteriös. Kaum eine Info, kaum ein Foto. Mit diversen Singles und Millionen Remixen steuert er seine wuchtige Maschine ohne Umwege direkt in dein Gesicht. Und mit einer Armada an Gehacktem, Geraspeltem und Zerstückeltem fühlt man sich schnell und leicht komplett verschüttet und irgendwie doch warm und sanft zugedeckt, mit sympathischen Brüchen und Wechseln, so leichtfüßig wie ein Hase Haken schlägt. Und immer wenn ich SebastiAn lausche empfinde ich das Wort “Filetieren” als die passendste Beschreibung für sein Tun.

Aucun autre mot que “hacher” ne me semble plus approprié à la musique produite par SebastiAn - du moins c’est ce que je ressens chaque fois que j’écoute ses mix.

To find some scandinavian designer or photographer wasn’t that easy like yesterday the french. Maybe i was a little too spoiled of our western neighboring country. But i found one designer and 2 photographers i’d like to share.

First to come is »Andreas Pihlström«, who’s a swedish mixture on his portfolio of graphic and photo or photos that could be graphics, or less a quite base for graphic working. Or click his blog for a little more. It’s not that much, but a worthy right-click on your mouse.

»Kimm Saatvedt« seems to be more the staged-snapshot-photographer, who definitely took longer, than you think by first viewing. I like his fullscreen-portfolio and many of his photos.

»Knotan« is more into portrait-photographs, but his way kind of banish anybody seems to be very interesting. View the 96 photos on his website or 4 more images i found on ponyexpress.

A little younger. A little more street:
Dokument Förlag from Sweden coming with »1207« book (the police-code for damage to property in Sweden), Portraits of Stockholm. In this book, the artist decided the location of getting shooted and documented. Some directly on the crime scene, some home, some in a club, it’s like weapons of choice. The photographer Torkel Sjötrand impresses with technique and composition. It’s not all about the works of the artists, it’s about the artists themselves. Good or bad is a decision on your own. But the atmosphere of the book is able to capture. You can read and see a little more here.

Die Arbeiten von Aneta Bartos sind definitiv einprägsam und vor allem unglaublich eigen. Sie schafft es, mit Ihren Bildern, mich selbst in eine andere Zeit zu versetzen und der mir bei schwebende Nimbus einer Greta Garbo oder Marlene Dietrich unterstreicht auch gleich noch die entsprechende Klasse. Unglaublich schöne Arbeiten in der Tat…«

»Sherlock Holmes. But today i just can’t detect which great choice Aneta Bartos did, when she decided which technique she wants to use for live-editing her photos or rework them. It’s such a great assignement of blur. But that’s secondary. Aneta Bartos makes me feel like stuck in the 20s. Nearly fullest prevention of technology. If the effects occurs live-by-shooting i would guess: vignetted milk glass or soft-focus. Someone’s got a hint? Is it important, it’s amazing on it’s own.«

The University of Art Berlin invited us to have some sticky hicky glitty itty photoshooting on a masked ball, organized by zinnober gang, some weeks ago. I found time to share some products with you via gallery.

Just because my visitation fell asleep for thousands of hours, i had a little sparetime.
I authorized my secretary to publish a petite gallery, just for you, if you might be interested in some

Da mein Leben ja eher auf der elektronischen Seite der Musikwelt verläuft, hab ich, bis auf eine ungewollte Cannibal Corpse Überdosis bei einer Mitfahrgelegenheit, eher weniger mit Hardcore und Metal zu tun gehabt. Das liegt wohl daran, dass ich mich nicht so gern anschreien lasse und man mich nach einem Hardcore Live Rave bestimmt ins Krankenhaus einliefern müsste. Sich mal mit der gitarristischen Konzertkultur auseinanderzusetzen wäre dennoch nicht verkehrt und so steht in meinem doch wieder elektronischen Terminkalender dick und fett Holding This Moment drin. Dahinter versteckt sich eine Ausstellung von Melanie Dressel, welche sich quasi seit Jahren mit einer gekonnten Stagedive Kamerafesthaltetechnik mitten in einen extatischen Mob von Hardcorefans stürzt, nur um die dabei entstehenden Mittendrinfotos dann für Euch in der Geraer Schassengalerie auszustellen. Vielen Dank Mel!

In eigener Sache:
Wir gestehen: TheFastLife.org ist eine Scheinfirma einer Sekte namens “Universelles Leben”. Sie existiert seit den 70er Jahren und ist wirtschaftlich unabhängig vom Staat. Ein Geschichts-und Politikwissenschaftsstudent mit Abschluss hat herausgefunden, dass wir Ländereien besitzen, welche nicht unter die Herrschaft irgendeiner Regierung fallen. Wir hatten 3Stände auf der Buchmesse, um unterschwellig unsere Glaubensbotschaften zu propagandieren. Wen interessiert, was wir noch so treiben, wann wir adidas gekauft haben, wann ich anfange in aller Öffentlichkeit Kissen zu schlachten und wer zu uns auf unseren Bauernhof ziehen möchte, kann ja mal alles nachgooglen.

Weil wir beginnen als Sekte aufzufliegen, obwohl Prinz Eisenherz neue Stiefel trägt und der Plan kurz vor seiner Vollendung stand, besorgt uns Tom Cruise neue Pässe.

Als ich das erste Mal eine World Press Photo Ausstellung gesehen habe, stand ich mitten im Gebäude der Vereinten Nationen in New York. Ein solcher Ort ist faszinierend. Alle Grenzen dieser Welt laufen hier zusammen und schaffen ein ergreifendes Gefühl von Verantwortung, Größe und Kultur. Wenn in diesem Zentrum der Welt eine solche Ausstellung statt findet, verändert sich daher auch die Betrachtungsweise der einzelnen Fotos. Sie wirken realer, näher und intensiver. Aber auch an einem anderen Ort bleiben die Fotos ein Zeugniss der Geschichte des vergangenen Jahres. So dokumentiert World Press Photo seit 1955 die Kunst der Pressefotografie und damit auch die mediale Auseinandersetzung mit weltweiten Ereignissen. Es ist Zeit zum hinschauen…

Rage (DRM) machts vor und wird durch Writer wie Asur, Amik oder Soul unterstützt. Das heißt dann weit auslaufende, verzerrte Buchstaben treffen auf dicke Blocks. Schickes und erstaunlich umfangreiches Preview fürs kommende Printmag. Dazu gibts Interviews u.a. mit Rage und Puma.

It`s hard to get any impressions of UK Grime music and their artists in the middle of Germany. So if you don`t run to every Berlin Grimetime or Revolution 5 like we do, you probably don`t even know how the boys and girls look like. Peter Best knows it and got a real nice photography look inside the east london grime scene. Check out his pictures here.
