Pluxus

What we remind, when we think of the year Oh-Six:

# Mozart celebrated his sweet 250th birthday in Vienna. I claim, I was around.
# We’re 6.5 billion peeps on earth, are we all brothers? Do you feel sad, cuz you’re one amongst many? Should i rename myself? Teen Billionaire? The boss of China?
# Slobodan Milošević left this planet.
# Montenegro got an UNO-account! You think to vacation over there? We highly recommend that!
# You were bored at the Soccer-World-Cup, cause you hate that game?
# You were fulltime drugged up at the Soccer-World-Cup, cuz you ain’t got nothing else to do?
# You got stabbed at the World-Cup, cuz you ain’t got nothing else to do or you stabbed at the World-Cup, cuz you were too drugged up?!
# Cory Lidle paid scant attention!
# Cory Kennedy is It?! The It? Vincent Gallo’s daughter? Mark Hunter’s wife? Aoki’s roadie?
# Steve Irwin dated a ray.

What do you remind when you think of two years ago?
Should we do not write like it is 2 yrs before?
How do you feel by thinking of 2006?
Do you fancy that we’re so fast it is already October in our cypher?
Do you think we should write about 2007, instead of 6, cause 2006 was absolutely uncool?

I heard, Pluxus 06 record “Solid State” will be re-released on Kompakt in some days. Is this the truth? You trust us? This is beautiful! You can stab us, whenever we lie! Tell us, we wear stabproof vests!

Animal Crossing

Far north based boys of The State of Floral Beings are really a motley crew of weirdos. Or how would you describe five adult boys daubing their faces in animal style and creating music that sounds like something between “high-speed pursuits with Super Mario though fields of somersaults” and “getting nightly phone calls by the man in the moon who wants you to do his job”?!?

In Sweden these animal boys are well known and still rocked every zoological garden from Malmö up to Luleå with their elektro-punk-rock style. Last week The State of Floral Beings released a new web album called “Total” and you can get it for nothing more than a single mouse-click! Just visit their myspace page - but don’t feed ‘em please!

The LK

Second in a row this Sunday to prove our fondly creaminess and our dovelike side are The LK from Malmo, Sweden, who blast our taintless souls into a mood to addict to all what happens around us and let it passing by.

These northern folks are known for their hardheaded glittering behavior and so their glowing airy way of confronting listeners to lose all their burden. The typical LK song is both gradually mind-invading and comfortingly direct, they make us hungry for more of their actinism. Keep your eyes - if you dig them - for their 11 tracks strong new-release “Vs. The Snow”.

Chasing Summer Love

Our beloved and heavy rotated friends Anoraak and Error Love spent endless hours with their common band Pony Pony Run Run in the studio to create that perfect summer song we’re all searching for piggishly.

This powerfull electro-pop-track makes you feel aestival where ever you’re at and will definitely find it’s way into everybody’s heart. If not you just can be a living stone.
We here at TFL couldn’t overcome the temptation to vault on our Harleys and start southbound roadtrippin’. Well, of course we don’t own Harleys and of course we don’t have time for such falderal - but we can dream, can’t we!? Pony Pony Run Run TURN IT ON!

Steel Jacket Bullet 101

We’re always running! Not because we get hunted by troops of screechy groupies & their screeching mommys - that’s our standard business. We keep running to detect all that magnificent music stuff worldwide, ere it’s even written down and produced, to swagger about in front of our groupies.

Sometimes we run that fast we overtake ourselves. But yesterday a bullet got ahead of me just at the moment, while I was running and wanted to give my “overtaking myself” a paddywhack on the head. Instead of that, this missile gave me, my “overtaking me” and also my “overtaking the overtaken me” a heavy wham in one go. Hard to beat.

Launched was this bullet by our trigger-happy friends of Dada Yakuza, who we just call HARD BANGERS. We advise you to wear a Kevlar vest while listening and never point your headphones at anybody unguarded if you don’t want to strike ‘em down. This track is a weapon for tough kids.

Streetlife DJ's

Me who is concerned about your education would like to take you on a journey through the geographic facts of London City. No, guys it’s not only about listening music and reading funny articles from strange people about even stranger artists. Life is no bed of roses!

So here are some facts about London: London City has got 7,2 million habitants and there are 500 languages spoken. The world’s first stoplight was built at the House of Commons 1868 (by the way thank you for stealing our time, Queen). London is popular for yummy meals like beans on toast. In London having sex on a motorbike is illegal. But actually London is one of the most important European capitals. Especially for the electronic music scene.

On my voyage on Myspace, I stumbled over the profile of two great DJ’s and producers that have built up quite a reputation. You might know them from their Essential Mix, which was one of the hottest mash-up-mixes I´ve heard for quite a long while. For the Streetlife DJ’s, aka Stewart Rowell and Louis Gaston, there are no No-Goes. While mashing up contradicting music-styles, they are serving you the best mixes which only shows one side of their high skills.

Their upcoming EP “Gunn Crime” will be released on Kitsuné next Monday. It’ll definitely be an impact to all lovers of electronic music and fuel in the clubs. But these guys still have something up their sleeves. On their own label Street Beats there will be a three track EP. The Streetlife DJ’s, gave us the chance to offer you one of these tracks and we immediately fell in love with.
For all the collectors: There will also be a limited edition of two smashing remixes (only 500 copies) - and one of them we’ll ship you right below.

Next time we’ll take you on a trip to the loveliest sites of Berlin city including the wonderfull Oranienburger and Kottbusser Tor.

Mr Gaspar

He seems to be a man using few words. The only thing next to a download-link was “check that shit out homies”. And today Mr. Gaspar is coming with a ultrasoft drifty and cozily track, named “You don’t love me”.

A track where you think of hearing vocals, where no vocals are around. A track, that has an indescribable power to pull your everything with it. A track being doomed to be played a million times a day. A track deserving an A. A track rolling through rooms with high intensity to make listeners dreaming and shutting down their awareness to feel the wanderlust in a lifetime. We hardly can’t wait for next releases with vocalists and other producers.

Alphabeat, FrankMusic, Leon Jean-Marie

These boys and girls in the image above are the collaboration between blogfaves Danish Alphabeat, British FrankMusik and Leon Jean-Marie.

Alphabeat might be known from their introducing track Fascination Frankmusic they shared with us two months ago. But tonight they shipped over a colorful handmade cover for Daft Punk’s Digital Love, that is coming in a quite unexpected way, in a very unexpected genre, but nevertheless we still love people playing real instruments and charming guys standing on front on microphones, singing with body and soul. The track is a gentle voyage to something relaxing escorting you smiling through stormy days.

The Phonograph

The famous phonograph by Thomas Alva Edison was the first device for recording and replaying sounds. What nobody really knows - Edison attempted to install his phonograph technology into human bodys to create his personal audio slaves. But his endeavors failed because of the bulkiness of his entire device! In 2004 a secret society of Edison devotees, who are close to the Illuminatis, came across the blue prints of the human-phonograph and used the best available technology of today to finish Edisons brainchild.

They put all the required equipment into two good-natured Italian boys, give ‘em a guitar and synthesizer upgrade in combination with a new singing-voice-module and let ‘em interact like rockstars. A band called The Phonograph was born and better as Edison ever could imagine. They come with their new web single “Erasmus Is Not Your Life” in high qualiti sound and without any Italian-usual manufacturing defects. Nice work.

Ladytron - Velocifero

They hided so long. And waiting in your cold one-room-apartment has been more than worthy, when checking the first extraction of Ladytron’s latest release “Velocifero”. If you are not such boys or girls talking hours about their new art-projects in their living-sleeping-room-combination without firing just to protect a forest or an organic farm of your choice and spotted Ladytron would perfectly match to your longhair lifestyle, read on.

First to smell, first to taste, first to flirt is first track of the record, that is kicking bricks out of walls. “Black Cat” sees the lights of day since no more than 70 hours and you’re warmly invited to take part.

The hard facts tonight:
Ladytron is still Liverpool.
Ladytron is still Ladytron, of course the voice of Helen Marnie is still the same sofd and disarmingly one.
Ladytron is still Ladytron, of course the voice of Mira Aroyo is still the same bulgarian, rough, drab gem.
The album was not recorded in Bejing.
Full-length Velocifero will date the street on June 3rd.
Ladytron recorded in Paris this time, being busy with Alessandro Cortini and Vicarious Bliss.
We agree to Missingtoof, Ladytron sounds always better in bunches, so head over for more.

The Fire and Reason from NYC are down with their first record release, combining a mixture of rocking flavour and beepy tunes, with a powerful strong female voice, that seem to have the power making the audience scream nonsense and catch single ones losing their will, get naked and rub themselves on the counter.

You can grab it for free if you love to have the alternation and your mind is free for some guitar tunes commanding the Ep called “Shut Up, Dance”. You will be rewarded with 5 blistering new tracks, plus The Toxic Avenger Remix of their song “NME”. The new single “Sugar Koma” is sure to get everyone dancing and singing along “Ooh your candy’s right for my apetite tonight”, a lusty track about eyeing that special someone at the club and whispering in their ear “it’s dangerous what you wear tonight…”

Johnny Neon

I admit: I never thought about South Africa when thinking about music and was never curious enough to check up on my own, what they’re doing down there. Great, that a boy named Ben Rausch shoved over a mail to share his Synthpop tunes with us.

His band Johnny Neon - playing analogue synthesizers - are blessed with extremely comfortable voices sharing with the audience and crash into your ears with beautiful tunes, appeasing the hardest hustlers and strongest weightlifters. These tracks are a gem for daybreaks to get up with a smile and gleaming sunbeams around your head.

Btw: Did somebodys grandpa sold all his holding, did transfer all his stocks and took a no-return-ticket from Germany to South Africa, just because of the overwhelming biota? Is it true that many players dream of emigrating to South Africa, living on the southest edge of the world, the Cape Agulhas? Do they play instruments the other way round down there in South Africa? Did I say South Africa too often?!

image: Timothy Saccenti

Instructions manual for drifting away is the best characterization for the sound that Home Video are creating. A terrific mixture of haunting vocals and gentle lyrics carried by the warm vibrations of synthesizer-melodies and an emotive bass.

Home Video are Collin Ruffino and David Gross, transplanted from the misunderstood landscape of New Orleans and now living in the brooding brownstones of Brooklyn, New York. They’ve been performing one of their new songs live over the past few months and it’s gotten such an amazing audience response that they’ve decided to offer it as an exclusive early single from their second full-length album which they intend to finish this spring.

“I Can Make You Feel It” is an epic dance song about love and longing that has a massive, wall-of-sound-y ending that’s really fun for us to play (it’s our first song with a quasi piano solo). It’s also the first song we’ve recorded with our amazing live drummer Jim Orso, who brings new life to the beat.

We’re curious about the full album and invite you until then to drift away with us, a bit…

Now they come with their new 7-inch Drive Into Moon Morning EP and encase it into a special, dressy and limited vinyl-bag. But of course it’s not the appearance of a record which is essential (hopefully), the main focus still should be on the record itself. And here we have two, somewhat mellow tracks with a touch of melancholy inside which entice you to stare lost in thought into space. Really - I found myself doing so, several times while listening to this tracks.
