Sofd Sunday: The LK

The LK

Second in a row this Sunday to prove our fondly creaminess and our dovelike side are The LK from Malmo, Sweden, who blast our taintless souls into a mood to addict to all what happens around us and let it passing by.

These northern folks are known for their hardheaded glittering behavior and so their glowing airy way of confronting listeners to lose all their burden. The typical LK song is both gradually mind-invading and comfortingly direct, they make us hungry for more of their actinism. Keep your eyes - if you dig them - for their 11 tracks strong new-release “Vs. The Snow”.

Sofd Sunday: The Atomica Project

The Atomica Project

We try something completely different this Sunday: We want to go along to an easygoing sunny day today by supplying you with invariable hardly smooth and dreamy tunes.

First to start up is The Atomica Project, a union of downtempo beats and stunning female vocals, amplified by an organic warmth and generally absent from electronic music. They return with a stunning sophomore record, named “Grayscale”, that dated the street 3 weeks ago. The vocals of Lauren Cheatham definitely sound like a dream and are a very perfect matching partner on a voyage to a unknown place or falling asleep with a person you hardly desire.

If it is too soft for all you hardknockers, we say: we warned you! It’s a cozy day today.

Must not die

A little life and a quite relaxing mix: I am down with my third coffee. Currently myspace is dead. It was a hectic, but short week. And it’s an easy Thursday, currently. Almost all stuff seems to be done. The weekend seems to be prepared. The only noise is the dishwasher. The phone did not ran once. Wedding is quite sunny, currently and in my ears running “The Working Majority” of Miguel & Quinten, combining the Sacramento duo Must Not Die, who appeared in the inbox last night.

The mix is coming around quite soft, has the power to run in the back a long time. Me personally takes a time to dive into the remix stuff by M.N.D. The Ryan Adams-workover is my favourite, kind of nice downtempoid, casual and discreet. But go and check for yourself.

Zach Lipkins

Let’s get into the Saturday with soft and gentle Zachary Lipkins, that got in touch with us last Friday, serving high-melodic, dramatic and heartrending tunes from his base in Long Island, discreet and glamorous like a perfect gentleman.

“While Juggling Cobras” is such a style of track sliding soft and slow into your ears and remind you, that you have been a child once upon a time and how easygoing life can be. This is something all tracks of Zach carry around with themselves. The other 3 come more concretely, up-and-down-tempoid with a lot of breaking behaviour and an armada of heartbreaking melodies, that deep touches you in your innermost being.

Mojib - Whimsical lifestyle
Home, New Release, Downtempo 2nd Feb 2008 // 02:31 pm

Mojib - Whimsical lifestyle

Non - Existent Recordings is proud to present ‘Whimsical Lifestyle’, the professional debut album of Gothenburg, Sweden’s Mojib, aka Staffan Ulbert. And so do we.

The record’s title seems to speak for its own. Mojib’s tunes do remind of floating over a golden, wide field, amongst a flock of colorful dragonflies, behind a chirping bulk of crickets, that announce belles of elegancy and modest constancy. It seems to be a pure comfortable experience listening Mojibs tracks, appearing that grown and gentle like a big, old, calm gorilla.

We deeply recommend this debut album and if you want something comparable to, we’d like to call Mojib a “northern Tellier”. Sweden-Boy’s “Jonsered” is a fleet-footed no-vocal track, that seems to stroll all over the court like a 5yr-old girl with curly hair and soft-ice. The whole work is highly recommended for fans of The Avalanches, DJ Shadow, Four Tet…and them all relaxing home with a quite nice white vine and packing a pipe.

“His project features 11 meticulously crafted songs, with a diverse array of musical sounds, combining beautiful pop melodies, solid, intricate drum patterns, bittersweet piano keys, acoustic guitars and electronic synths. […] As well, the beauty of Mojib’s compositions is enhanced by its attractive digipak packaging, featuring excellent artwork provided by UK based artist Claire Scully.” We’re glad to share 3rd and 9th track of the record with you, to prove that buying is absolutely worthwhile. You can get the copy of the album for $9 here.
