Edwin Van Cleef

Our secret lover from Leeds Edwin Van Cleef kikked 3 new bangers into the living-rooms of the world. We wanted to share them before the NYE is there, cause we think this kid is it worth to be one of the last gems to share in the so-called ‘’blogosphere'’.

2 remixes and 1 mix is in the game to be played on heavy rotation in the coming three til six months. He’s a supersoft tip for your favorite dj to play a real Cleef in your favorite club around your favored time with your favored drink to sip. Cause a real Cleef holds you tight whatever happens, a real Cleef punches your rival in business, a real Cleef considers your higher-order needs. A Cleef is somebody to count on. And a real Cleef is happy when you dance to his d.o.l.c.e. beats.

2008 Review 6: New Rave Kids
Home 29th Dec 2008 // 09:00 pm

New Rave Kids

Nothing new in this year: Grrls and Boys in New Rave Outfits with New Rave Behavior.
But 2008 would have been so relaxing without you on the dancefloor, first of all you never dance anyway. No one is interested in confetti, except of I fart it in your face. No one is interested to smell your breath while you scream into one’s face. Still no woman loves men in leggings or glasses made of sash pane. You’re gay? That would be okay, but stop touching guys, that do not want to get touched by you. Not everybody is looking for an extravagant cosexual experience, especially not with the mustache you wear. Still no man loves women with glasses made of sash pane and one of this hairdo your mother had 40 years ago. Tecktonics were the most gaudy absurdness 2008 happened.

Here’s a little list where you can check,
that you’re a man and no newravegirlmanboywomantransgender:

* You wear a ring? Then you’re a girl, new rave, engaged or married.
* You have a penis and drink beer? You’re a man! That’s cool, hang with us!
* You have glasses without glasses? Sit down, relax and think about why.
* You have hobbies like playing guitar, shopping and tinker flamboyancy? You’re a new rave hippie.

Okay, the trend is going to be the most individual individual. We accept that. But please, do not forget that you’re not the only person on the planet, dancefloor, cafe, bakery, swinger club, university, employment bureau. One day, there will be my leg tripping you up, my pee running down your jeans while you dance on acid or my scissor meeting your hair.

A female.

2008 Review 5: 80Kidz

Far, far way down east a crew simply named 80kidz emerged from the borderless youth culture of Japan and kicked up our heels.

We’re on the kidz since their track “ALT A” showed up at the deluging WWW and we still lust after every little shred they’re conjuring up. In 2008 their output reached a mountainous level and one burning track chased the next. A long list of remixes for the whole who’s who of electronic music puts this the lid on and makes us warm our feet.
Drawing comparisons to Justice, MSTRKRFT or who else hit the peak once, are doubtless very complimentary but even a bit low polygon. 80kidz are definitely unique, got their own style and an own sort of feeling for the biz the do.

We’re curious about what the kidz will come along with in 2009 and hope we’ll ever get the chance to enjoy them live on stage.

2008 Review 4: Boeoes Kaelstigen

2008 Review 4: Boeoes Kaelstigen

Two dishy types from Sweden are hanging 24/7 behind their controllers, sliders, shifters, levers, knurls, potentiometers, indicators, levelers, modulators, regulators and stabilizers and baking some real filigree techno tracks of individual character in a time that doesn’t really stand out due to constructive originality.

After they’re already known all over the place in Scandinavia, Boeoes Kaelstigen now gradual are spilling over to Estonia and to the rest of E.U.R.O.P.E, too. They do tunes that have something levitate but even confident, something pushing but not rushing, something forceful but still relaxed. Tunes to be heard during long car rides, at dawn to think about nothing, at puristic clubs to dance ecstatically, at a walk though your town to feel like a hell of a kid.

We love their lively play with breaching bass lines, good-old analogue bleeps and kind of trance-breaks. Every of their tracks could tell you a story or could be the soundtrack of a day with its ups and downs. And that’s what makes them that special for us without any ifs and buts. Boeoes Kaelstigen - thumbs up!

Cerebral Vortex

Uh La La!
Some unreleased material sneaks around the corner by producer Robot Koch from Berlin, San Antonio-Kid Cerebral Vortex and his mate Buddy Leezle (now in SF). Together they make the group 215:THE FRESHEST KIDZ.

The pitch is titled “Joe Rogan” and is released on the bonus cd of the 12″, that dated the world last week, featuring productions from Berlin Flako, Moo and Robot Koch. They be also known as the voices on the record with Glasgow producer Rustie, released earlier this year titled “Cafe de Phresh”.

We’re very lucky to hear sth again from Cerebral. We’ve been great fans of his easygoing style since the first hearing and - we admit - we missed him a little, still curious how long his beard will be in 2009.

I cannot exactly tell somebody why, but I cannot take my hands off this track since weeks by Jen Feldman. The Eminem-part is starting kind of broken and off kilter, but the rest of the whole tune is kind of sth I could listen to forever.

2008 Review 3: Metal On Metal

Metal On Metal
image: Gedmis

Lithuania has been the state, that kikked us out of our shoes this year. The most gleaming live act, the most punching moments, the most luxurious turbulences of beats, snares, mashups and tunes were delivered by kids from LT: Metal On Metal are our secret love v.08!

We heard these guys are qualified in everything: they make water to wine, sunrises to sundowns, a boring club to a tinderbox and our crutches wet. We’d give our left arm, last shirt and right groin for meeting them one day again.

MediaFire: Wax Stag - Short Road (Metal On Metal Re-Remake)
MediaFire: Bloc Party - Flux (Metal On Metal Remake)

What we can say with certainty: Metal On Metal do no compromises. Not on stage, not on the counter, not in bed and not while ordering their coffee. As a bonus you can checkout the clip that is around in the www for almost one year & be curious for their new music-video that should hit the station, soon.

2008 Review 2: Anoraak
Home, Music, Remixes, Electropop, Love 25th Dec 2008 // 09:00 pm

Anoraak

A guy, that deserves to be played once a day. Once a night. Once with you. Once without you. Once without anybody. Once with the world. Once in Amber Room. Once on the street. Once in the kennel. Once while somebody is born. Once while somebody burns. Once inside of a building. Once on top of a building. Once in Miami. Once in a collective. Once in loneliness. Once with love and once with envy. Once to float away. And once to come back to reality. Once to stand an army. Once to raise a child. Once to cure a disease. Once to see the world gleaming. Once to hang with your gang.

What Anoraak touched, that year, became golden, touched the soft spots of the dream center in brains and felt like a baby, that needs to be protected of the harsh outside world. His published and shared single tracks appeared like a voyage to planets far away and were crowned with success by his limited Mini Debut Album “Nightdrive With You”, that was a perfect performance and introduction to date the streets and a treasure in the stereos of the world.

All what is left behind after Anoraak’s work is to bow low and whisper: “What you do is no job, it’s the truth. And that is so rare, these days.”
