DJ A-Trak
image: thecobrasnake.com

While most of us were trying to score a six-pack and steal a copy of Hustler, Alain Macklovitch was in his parents Montreal basement at the tender age of thirteen, mastering the art of scratching and mixing on the turntable he bought with his Bar Mitzvah money (not to say that he wasn’t spending his down-time staring at nude chicks, but most likely a little less than some of us)… (quoted from interview with A-Trak on modernfix.com)

Via “arwigs and wax” we found that petite skill-showing-mix of canadas wunderkind A-Trak while playing in Vancouver. Even it’s not that long it’s such a delight to listen to. You maybe also can imagine why Kanye West wanted him to be his current tour DJ. Listen up!

Robot Koch

The producer Robot Koch himself is the mastermind behind Jahcoozi. He’s deep into running on tour with them, producing tracks, remixing tunes, writing music for film scores and forming “The Tape vs RQM”, together with RQM. “…the guys in east london better dress warmer” of this hardworking Berlin-Boy. (quoted from Goon Magazin)

He made beats and remixes for Infinite Livez of Ninja Tunes, Raz Ohara, Data Mc and a lot of others. He`s also known for wicked DJ sets, mashups and for not getting a lot of sleep.
Today to lunch Robot sent over 2 remixes he did for Amanda Blank and Rustie ft Cerebral Vortex and as an extra-extra his very new very hot mixtape “Death Star Disco”. Cover artwork via 44flavours.

Stateless - Stateless
Home, Music 28th Nov 2007 // 02:33 pm

Stateless

Stateless is Leeds. Stateless is the perfect example to verify that a hot-as-hell-cd-case-cover always slides into your brain and almost force you hearing the cd. And Stateless seems to have a long-running contract with Non-format, designing all the covers for previous singles and album!

Of the same title as their name their new album, that is out since July on !K7, these 5boys might be a new hot tipp for relaxing music mixing electronic parts with usual handmade components. The voice sometimes reminds a bit of a radiohead without it’s stretching. Chris James (vocals) also sang for 2tracks on Dj Shadow’s last year album “The Outsider”. “Stateless”, the album might not be brand new, but nevertheless we like to share first, 3rd and 6th track of it with you.

De:Bug 118

Miss Mercy rewarded me with new De:Bug Issue, that is out for shortest time. By buying you become rewareded with a high quantity and quality of interesting stuff in various fields of knowledge.

Next to 4pages 2007-lovies Daft Punk, who were interviewed again, you can have a review about homeland, overseas and voyages of Sigur Ros, the sailors, that set sail from fairyland or read an article about spotting graffiti and streetstuff via google.earth oder google.maps. Readers also get well-informed in seeing Raz Ohara coming back or - if you prefer getting into fashion - about the new collection of Patrik Söderstam (the friend of Henrik Vibskov, the drummer of Trentemöller).

De:Bug has got a little extra for you: because it’s christmas as soon as possible they want to present you, if you take the time to complete their poll of 2007.

Yuksek

With a name, that makes you think of a hairy Turkish in the mid 40s selling cellphones, Yuksek from France is stepping into your cypher with hotshots, blowing original tunes into their crispy elements. You do great in stop breathing for a minute and use that excessive energy for making your friends mad by dancing them to exasperate.

Young addicted producer Yuksek did strong displaced remixes for - amongst others - Chromeo, Das Pop, Plugs and Zombie Nation, pumping clubsounds to your dinner. Several reasons for looking for his new “That Number EP” in February 08!

2 Raketen in Berlin
Home, Word 27th Nov 2007 // 07:23 am

Rakete Berlin

Second time “Rakete” this week, but a completely different business:
No long time ago we wrote, that old friend Thorsten Solin opened a new gallery in Berlin, named “Rakete Berlin”. Last week photographer Jim Rakete started to front them not to use his name for “pornographic material”. What cheek! Read the article by clicking the image above or here. Get your own opinion or write Jim, actual Günther, an email to muenzing@eyed.de

The Daft Multipackage
Home, Music, Video 26th Nov 2007 // 12:14 pm

Daft Punk
image: EMI

Almost 11yrs gone by, since Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo aka Guy-Man did their “Homework” perfectly and were rewarded with a lifelong A++. Now Pete Tong of Radio 1 is trying to find out exactly who these two robots are, that redefined dance music revolutionary and enormous.

Get this mix of music and interviews to receive an impression of this 2 humans after all. Radio 1 has - amongst others - some conversation with Stuart McMillan from Slam and Dave Clark from Soma Records, they signed the Dafts back in 1994. Maybe none of this would have happened without these 2 boys from Glasgow.

Get some words from Calvin Harris, Vitalic, Michel Gondry, Justice. Also Laurent Brancowitz (Phoenix) was interviewed, who founded a Band with Thomas and Guy at the age of 12, on Radio 1, last thursday. And get your head beaten up with a bat by some extra tunes, we have to deal with, our whole lifetime. Yes, we are fans.

Daft Punk - Radio 1 Interview (22-11-2007) (direct link to mp3)

Daft Punk - Television rules the Nation & Crescendolls live! (zshare)

Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (Johnatron remix) (zshare)

Daft Video
Daft Punk published a high variety of great music-clips on tv, such as classic-ingenious “Around the World” (by Michel Gondry), “Da Funk” (by Spike Jonze) and our private favourite “Revolution 909″ (by Roman Coppola). Don’t miss “Aerodynamic”, because it’s just such a magnifique / gorgeous voyage.

They also wrote a script for an Anime-Musical, called “Interstella 5555 - The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem”, you can get on DVD. In 2006, Daft Punk wrote and produced a movie, called “Electroma”, where (in shortform) 2 robots try to become human.

And last, but never the least, get into a recording of the “Harder Better Faster Stronger (Alive 2007)” - tour, visiting, performing and smashing up Brooklyn.

Walter Meego
image: Walter Meego

Holy, they bring me to laughter, when “Walter Meego” are speaking of themselves. They come along megalomaniac and give you 2 tracks to show you if these kids are alright and correct.
“Someone once tried to declare us the winners of the 1960 U.S. Hockey Olympic gold. We insisted that we weren’t alive at the time. It didn’t matter. “ Hold on!
“Romantic” is a tune making you nodding your head to both sides the whole time. Or forth and back. Whatever you prefer. “Wanna be a star” is coming unbeatable in the mix. I dived into the vocals.

Clap for Blamma! Blamma!
Home, Music 24th Nov 2007 // 11:55 am

Blamma! Blamma!

A little time ago, hearing the Blamma’s the first time, i said: “It feels like getting choked what Blamma! Blamma! did to Scanners. Not that bad choking of a fat guy in a dark corner, more that soft one your girl secrectly is dreaming of.”

They draw a continuous line in doing different. Once mashing up stuff in technotic way like The Teenagers’s “Starlett Johansson”, another time they’ll law low. The latest remix is of Uk-rock Rival Joustas, stripping down like a permissive cop or plumber. Blamma! Blamma! is quite easy to take to and becoming fond of, “because of their ability to stand out in an era of everyone becoming a DJ, of crowd-sourcing remixes to the fans, of extreme stylistic copying and lack of creativity and ingenuity.” (quoted from BiBaBiDi)

Rival Joustas - Clarity (Blamma! Blamma! Clear as Mud mix) (zshare)

Scanners - Raw (Blamma! Blamma! Scanners Mix) (zshare)

Blamma! Blamma! vs Maximo Park - Terminal Velocity (zshare)

The Teenagers - Starlett Johannson (Blamma! Blamma! Remix) (zshare)

Blamma! Blamma! - Carry me home (final mix) (zshare)
